Seventy years since Bruce Gyngell bade Australians "Good Evening and welcome to television", the gogglebox has become part of the family for most of us. Whether watching sporting events, reality TV, or streaming must-watch shows from across the world, we all can appreciate this marvel of modern technology.
Celebrating the anniversary, the Royal Australian Mint has released this colourful 50c coin featuring a swath of different symbols and images representing all 70 years of Australian TV. Each coin has also been colourised with a stylised view of the test pattern screen.
This Uncirculated collector coin is limited to a mintage of 50,000 and is presented on an informative card.
