Capturing imaginations (nearly) as vividly as dinosaurs, those creatures from the Ice Age remain fascinations for many of us, even as we grow (physically, at least) into adulthood. The Royal Mint clearly knows this and so, the follow up to their recent Dinosauria collection, is Ice Age Giants!
The second coin in the series features the Woolly Rhino!! Similar in size to today's African White Rhino, this Ice Age beast also had a long woolly coat and a huge sharp front horn too!
Created in conjunction with the British Natural History Museum in London, each Woolly Mammoth 50p features the latest understanding of how this woolly beast appeared, along with a depiction of the fossilised skeleton of this great prehistoric beast.
