The grounds of the Japan Mint contain many, many cherry trees and. every year, during the cherry blossom sakura season, the grounds are opened to the public for an event known as 'Cherry Blossom Viewing (Sakura no toorinuke)'. Since its inception in 1883 it has remained a beloved spring tradition.

As always, the Cherry Blossom viewing set features a special silver medallion, only available in this set! Commemorating the Year of the Ox', the medallion is diamond-shaped, 17.5 millimetres across, and comprises 4.3 grams of .999 silver.
Highly limited and hard to find outside of Japan, this set is limited to 40,000 sets issued - but ONLY 742 sets will ever make it out of Japan!!
