Commissioned by Charles II in 1675, the Royal Observatory in Greenwich played an important part in historical navigation and timekeeping. Indeed, the Prime Meridien passes directly through it, giving its name to Greenwich Meantime (GMT), the time standard used for almost a century around the world.
In celebration of this important scientific location, The Royal Mint has produced a classic £2 commemorative, DOUBLE THICKNESS collectable coin. Minted from sterling silver, with gold-plating on the outer ring, no more than 650 of this special commemorative coin will be issued individually.
Due in stock early July 2025
