Created in conjunction with Thomas Pesquet, France's 10th astronaut, this remarkable silver coin attempts to remind us all that the Earth is precious and needs to be appreciated.
Minted by Monnaie de Paris, this larger than usual coin features a full colour image of the Earth held in the hand of an astronaut, giving the impression of being inside the astronaut's helmet, who has grasped the planet to admire it. Also appearing are the numbers ‘12,756 km’ and ‘23h56’, which represent the diameter of the Earth and the time taken for it to rotate.
Official French legal tender, each collector issue is struck from a large 45 grams of 90% pure silver, measures 47mm in diameter and bears a HUGE face value of 100 euros!
