The great unexplored region of our planet, the Deep Sea continues to protect many of its mysteries even today... but not everything is hidden! With the help of CSIRO's Research Vessel Investigator, some of the oddball creatures found in the depths have been spotted!
One of those weirdos from the water is the Tripod fish. Also known as the Spiderfish, this little critter stands on the ocean floor, legs extended, and waits for passing prey to brush past, get caught, then get eaten!
Housed in a plastic protective case, each $1 in this collection reflects either a 'C' for Canberra mintmark, or 'M' for Melbourne, 'S' for Sydney, or 'B' for Brisbane privymarks.
Don't forget, these coins are among the very first releases to feature the new interim obverse effigy, paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, and before the new Charles III effigy appears later in 2023.
