In order to celebrate both the 200th anniversary of the deciphering of ancient hieroglyphs and the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, Monnaie de Paris partnered with the Louvre museum to create this excellent silver tribute.
Minted in the shape of the great sphinx of Tanis statue held in the Louvre museum, one side of this remarkable coin reflects the statue itself. On the other the case that once belonged to Divine worshipper Shepenupet. The central axis depicts the status of the God Amun watching over the young Tutankhamun.
Typically high quality, as is everything from the French National Mint, no more than 3,000 of this 99.9% pure silver coin were issued.
