Napoleon Bonaparte was an incredible military general and strategist. Under his leadership as Emperor, the French Empire stretched out over most of mainland Europe. Such was his military strength, his campaigns and wars are still studied for their excellence now!
Upon ultimately losing power at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, Napoleon was exiled (again!) to the island of Saint Helena. And it is with this coin, from St Helena, that the 200th anniversary of the passing of this great leader is commemorated.
