Thanatotheristes degrootorum! Whilst those words may appear to be some kind of Harry Potter spell... in actual fact, that is the scientific name of the first Tyrannosaur discovered in Canada for more than 50 years! Better yet, the direct translation of the Latin name is "Death Harvester" or, as the specimen is no being called, the "Reaper of Death"... Eeeek!
Bearing a face value of $20, this Canadian pure silver coin depicts a reconstructed skull of the Reaper, as verified by the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology. Struck from just over an ounce (31.39 grams) of 99.99% pure silver, each Reaper skull coin has also been plated in the rare element, Black Rhodium.
Presented in a case with authenticity, no more than 7,500 of this official legal tender $20 coin will be issued.
