Taking into account all experiential bias, and then sprinkling it liberally with hyperbole, this two-coin set from the Royal Australian Mint is quite likely the greatest Australian collector coin issue to come out of Canberra in the past 20 years!
Taking the legendary Australian copper penny - first issued in 1911, before a Bounding 'Roo redesign in 1937 - and recreating it using modern machinery, as slightly larger than the original 33mm, this is a brilliant 2-coin concept from the brains trust at the RAM. Not only is this an uncommon modern Australian copper release but the creative minds in Canberra have also added the very first Queen Elizabeth II portrait, by Mary Gillick, on the obverse of both of these outstanding coins.
Though the mintage of 20,000 sounds large, it isn't. Collectors from across the country will want this set. Do not hesitate!
