2020 UK £5 Tower of London - Prison Piedfort Silver Proof
Perhaps the most famous medieval monument in London, the Tower of London traces its history back to William the Conqueror way back in 1066!
Both beautiful and historically important, one of the functions of the Tower over the years has been as a prison. Such figures as Queen Elizabeth I & Walter Raleigh were imprisoned there and, as recently as 1952, Ronnie and Reggie Kray were locked up there!
This official UK collectable Tower of London coin from The Royal Mint (itself housed in the tower at one time) features a Norman window arch from the Tower with the words "My Libertie Denied" in the foreground.
Available in sterling silver proof quality and housed in typically high quality Royal Mint packaging, each £5 Piedfort crown is DOUBLE the thickness of ordinary Royal Mint silver coins and thus double the weight! Each 56.56 gram silver piedfort is part of a tiny mintage of just 410 coins.
