Formed in London in 1970, the rock band Queen went on to become of the biggest musical acts in the world. 50 Years on, The Royal Mint celebrate this fabulous UK band with the first coin release in their British Music Legends series.
Officially approved by Roger Taylor and Brian May, this coin represents the first time ever that a British band has featured on the nation's coinage. To mark the occasion, the coin's reverse features the instruments played by four members -Taylor's LudwigTM bass drum, May's Red Special guitar, John Deacon's Fender Precision bassTM, and Freddy Mercury's BechsteinTM grand piano. Central to the design, the official Queen logo and, as a beautiful added touch, the opening notes of Bohemian Rhapsody are pressed down on Mercury's piano.
Tremendous value for less than $25, each officially approved Queen coin is housed in typically high quality Royal Mint packaging.
