Deliberately struck by the Mint of Poland in the shape of an Ancient silver coin, this collector issue pays tribute to one of history's greatest commanders, Hannibal. And, just like its perfect partner, the Alexander the Great coin, the obverse of this collector issue features a modern rendition of an actual Ancient coin. In this case, Hannibal's coins often featured and elephant, a famous mode of battle transport during his victories.
On the reverse side of the coin, a version of Hannibal himself, inspired by a statue discovered in Capua, Italy.
Rounding out this fabulously designed issue, a piece of carnelian stone, embedded and visible on both sides of the coin.
