2019 UK 50p 50th Anniversary Military Silver Proof Set
First issued a full two years before the United Kingdom moved to a decimal coinage, the original 50p coin emerged in 1969 to replace the 10 Shilling banknote. Unique at the time, the new 50p’s seven sided shape allowed it to roll smoothly in vending machines.
The second silver set honouring the 50p anniversary to be released by The Royal Mint in 2019, this auspicious collection features five 50p designs that featured military themes!
Within this set, the Mint has brought together the Battle of Hastings, D-Day, the Battle of Britain and TWO coins commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross medal . Each 2019 coin is struck from 8 grams of sterling silver to Proof quality, and together, all five are housed in a presentation case.
