First published in its modern recognisable form by Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869, the Periodic Table of Elements is still in use today! Mendeleev’s table allowed him to demonstrate that Elements and their properties follow periodic trends. The table also allowed him to predict as-yet-undiscovered elements, most of which proved to be true! To commemorate this important scientific event, The Perth Mint have created this innovatively designed one ounce silver coin. Taking various symbols from the Periodic Table, the mint has spelled out the anniversary date of 150 years, directly underneath the portrait of Dmitri Mendeleev. Struck from 99.99% pure silver, each Periodic Table coin is part of a limited mintage of 3,000 coins. Housed in a case with numbered certificate of authenticity.
