In 1919, and through to 1921, the Australian government requested the local Royal Mint branch to explore new, cheaper coin shapes, sizes, and metals. The resultant patterns are, today, highly sought after - they are the Australian Square Kookaburra Patterns. In 2019, the Royal Australian Mint celebrates 100 years since the creation of these important numismatic pieces.
Struck in 99.9% pure silver, each 2019 Square Kookaburra coin takes its inspiration from one of the many patterns produced a century ago. Slightly bigger than the original coins, each silver tribute measures 22mm in size and each is a rare Australian 25c issue - a rare denomination from our national mint. Released as part of a tiny limited edition of just 3,000 sets, there's little chance that our meagre allocation will last for long.
