The largest alluvial gold nugget ever found, the ‘Welcome Stranger’ was unearthed in Australia 150 years ago, in 1869. Weighing around 72kgs and containing almost 2,300 ounces of gold, the nugget was a miraculous find.
In 2019, The Perth Mint celebrates the sesquicentennial of the Welcome Stranger with this great silver tribute. Perfectly plated in pure gold, each Welcome Stranger one ounce silver coin is part of a mintage of just 5000 issued.
