Prior to 2018, New Zealand's Reserve Bank had only approved the issue of a coloured coin into circulation once, in 2015. But, four years later, there was finally a second coloured circulating coin for our neighbours across the ditch. As with the 2015 coin, the Reserve Bank issued the new coin in commemorative mint rolls; and, as with the 2015 coin, those rolls immediately became highly sought after!
Commemorating the Armistice signifying the end of World War One in 1918, the 2018 50c bears a full colour wreath, with silver ferns centred around the official RSA red poppy.
